Biography

Lori Niland Rounds is an award-winning artist who enjoys painting, printmaking, and photography. She was recently honored to have one of her pieces selected for the year-long Smithsonian Artist-at-Work exhibition in Washington, DC. In addition, one of her pieces was recently acquired for the permanent collection of the Museum of Encaustic Art in Santa Fe, NM. Several of her pieces are on view at the new Marriott Visitation Hotel in downtown Frederick. Other accomplishments include an individual artist award by the National Endowment for the Arts/Frederick Arts Council, professional development grants from the Maryland State Arts Council, participation in MOMA’s 2018 digital online learners show, as well as the CBS Sunday Morning Show. Lori’s work is held in private collections across the US.

She is an Artist-in-Residence at the Y-Arts Center in downtown Frederick, MD, and is a member of the Maryland State Arts Council, the Frederick Arts Council, the Frederick County Arts Association, the Delaplaine Visual Arts Center, and the Rehoboth Art League. She serves as a Smithsonian Associates remote volunteer where she provides support for online studio art and art history courses. She has been creating art her entire life and returned to the studio full time in 2019 following her retirement from a successful career in Information technology.
